Dome Productions Wins Technical Achievement Gemini Award

Toronto, Ontario (January 24, 2005) – Dome Productions, a full-service provider of mobile production and transmission services, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the 2004 Gemini Award for Outstanding Technical Achievement for the design and build of Majestic, Canada’s first multi-format high definition production mobile truck.  Majestic is capable of supporting Standard and High Definition for both 1080i and 720p HD formats in traditional 4:3 or wide screen 16:9 aspect ratios.

Dome Productions Senior Vice-President and General Manager Mary Ellen Carlyle said: “We’re thrilled to win the Gemini for Majestic.  It’s a wonderful tribute to the dedication and months of hard work by our engineering team and staff, and validates our decision to meet the challenges of designing a multi-format mobile to enable us to continue to provide the highest level of service to all North American markets”.
Curtis Skinner, Manager of Engineering Services, added: ”The design and the equipment chosen allow us to do virtually any kind of production, from normal mid-sized standard definition sporting events to the largest HDTV entertainment shows, and have all the clients happy with the feeling that the truck was purposely built just for their show”.

Since its launch on March 31, 2004, Majestic has compiled a very impressive portfolio of high-profile events, including Toronto Raptors basketball, Toronto Blue Jays baseball, Much Music Video Awards, Major League Baseball’s American League Championship Series and World Series, Quest for the Cup at the NHL Stanley Cup Finals, World Junior Hockey Championships and concerts featuring Jon Bon Jovi, Sarah McLachlan, and the Tragically Hip.

As the demand for Majestic continues to grow, the design and build of Dome’s second HD multi-format production mobile (ninth in the overall Dome fleet) is moving forward, with a targeted ‘ready to book’ date by late March 2005.

As one of North America’s leading production facilities providers, Dome Productions’ complementary service offerings include mobile production trucks (high definition, digital, and analogue), telecommunication services (transmission via fibre and satellite, satellite media tours, and playouts) and full turnkey host broadcast services (complete management of design, production, engineering, and operations).  Dome’s team of experienced, highly skilled and professional staff has earned an international reputation for dedication and excellence in client service throughout the last 15 years.  Dome Productions is owned by CTV Specialty Television Inc. and Rogers Broadcasting Ltd.
