Toronto, ON - Dome Productions, a full-service provider of mobile production and transmission services, is pleased to announce the launch of Horizon, the company’s second multi-format high definition mobile production truck. Like its predecessor Majestic, for which Dome was awarded the 2004 Gemini Award for Outstanding Technical Achievement, Horizon is capable of supporting Standard and High Definition for both 1080i and 720p HD formats in traditional 4:3 or wide screen 16:9 aspect ratios. In fact, the design and build of Horizon began hot on the heels of the launch of Majestic in March 2004.
“From the level of interest expressed and the number of confirmed bookings secured during the Majestic build, we knew the market was ripe for a second High Def mobile,” says Mary Ellen Carlyle, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Dome Productions. “We knew we would have the ability to make adjustments to Horizon’s specs based on experiences gained through Majestic’s event performance.”
And what a wealth of experience it was! In its first year, Majestic covered an impressive list of successful events including NBA Basketball, NHL Stanley Cup playoffs, the MuchMusic Video Awards, the World Junior Hockey Championships, the U.S. Presidential Inauguration, and concerts including Jon Bon Jovi, Sarah McLachlan, The Tragically Hip, and Elton John.
Following in Majestic’s footsteps, Horizon is launching with a full schedule of high-profile events. Horizon’s first destination was Augusta, Georgia to cover The Masters, one of the world’s most prestigious PGA events, immediately followed by a return trip home to cover MLB Toronto Blue Jays’ home series against the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles. In addition to Blue Jays baseball, Horizon’s busy event schedule includes the NBA playoffs in May.
