Dome Productions Launches Third High Definition Multi-Format Production Mobile

Toronto, ON - Dome Productions, a full-service provider of mobile production and transmission services, is pleased to announce the launch of Trillium, Dome’s third high definition multi-format mobile production truck. All three HD trucks were designed and integrated in house by Dome Engineering for spring launches in each of the last three years (Majestic in March 2004, Horizon in May 2005 and Trillium in April 2006).

“These successive launches have allowed us to fine-tune and adapt design, equipment and efficiencies based on experiences with preceding trucks and the changing needs of clients and new markets,” says Mary Ellen Carlyle, Senior Vice-President and General Manager, Dome Productions.

Curtis Skinner, Dome Manager of Engineering agrees. “With each successive HD mobile, we’ve accommodated new gear and increased capabilities.” Trillium is fully equipped to produce 5.1 surround sound and includes a unique back deck in the audio room allowing for easy add-on of additional gear required for larger productions. The mobile has a production monitor wall which utilizes an Evertz 10 output virtual monitor driver system and 47 conventional colour monitors, thereby providing production with versatility in the size and number of monitors available.

With three high definition, multi-format mobile production trucks and an HD fly pack, Dome Productions continues to strengthen its reputation as a North American leader in the provision of HD production services. During the first two weeks of April, Trillium covered a variety of high-profile events in a wide range of locations. From its inaugural event in Toronto covering NBA Toronto Raptors basketball, events have included NHL hockey in Montreal and Ottawa, MLB baseball in New York, Toronto and Chicago, and a Coldplay concert in Toronto. In that same two-week period, Majestic and Horizon were on the road covering the JUNOs (Canada’s most prestigious music awards show) in Halifax, the PGA Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, Georgia, NHL hockey in Montreal, Toronto and Tampa Bay, and MLB baseball in Boston, Toronto, New York, Miami and Atlanta.

Capable of supporting standard and high definition 1080i, 720p and 24p HD formats in traditional 4:3, for standard def, or wide screen 16:9 aspect ratios, Dome Productions has the only HD mobile fleet in North America to provide complete turnkey transmission solutions, with each mobile equipped with rackmounted HD transmission encoders, decoders and modulators.

As one of North America’s leading production facilities providers, Dome Productions offers mobile production trucks and fly packs (high definition, digital and analog), telecommunications services (transmission via fibre and satellite, satellite media tours and playouts), and full turnkey host broadcast services (complete management of design, production, engineering, and operations).
